The journal BIOLINGUISTICS is a peer-reviewed journal exploring (theoretical) linguistics that takes the biological foundations of human language seriously. The Advisory Board and the Editorial Board are made up of leading scholars from all continents in the fields of theoretical linguistics, language acquisition, language change, theoretical biology, genetics, philosophy of mind, and cognitive psychology.

The Leibniz Institute for Psychology provides all publishing-related services including operation of servers, typesetting, etc. free of charge as part of their PsychOpen Gold programme supporting diamond open access journals. The journal itself receives no direct funding, either internally or externally, instead relying on volunteer labour for editorial management.
