Our Members.

Who we are.

We are Academics.

We are academic authors, editorial boards, and scholarly associations calling for transformative change to the way in which our research is published and disseminated. We stand united against the commercialisation of our work by global publishing corporations.

We are Librarians.

We are library directors, subject librarians, and open research specialists who reject the current profit-driven publishing model. We want to divest library budgets away from commercial packages and invest in a sustainable community-led publishing future.

We are Publishers.

We are trusted university presses, non-profit publishers and scholarly associations with decades of experience publishing high-quality academic journals. We want our journals to be open access and integrated into a system of open infrastructure that places our values above profits.

  • Dr Sacha Jones, Head of Open Research Services at University of Cambridge Libraries and Archives

“The Open Journals Collective offers libraries a practical way to support the growing ecosystem of community-led diamond open access journals. We’re delighted to support this initiative at the University of Cambridge Libraries and Archives.”

  • Louise Otting-Geevers, Collection & License Manager at TU Delft Library

“We’re excited to support the Open Journals Collective and look forward to collaborating. It’s vitally important to improve, innovate and diversify the publishing landscape. We need more community-led initiatives and discussions about changing our publishing cultures.”

  • Galadriel Chilton, Dean of the University Library at the University of Massachusetts Lowell

"Investing in infrastructure and architecture for diamond open access is necessary. UMass Lowell should not have to pay more than the cost of a commercial trip to space, a 59-foot luxury yacht, and a 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 to subscribe to journals from just three publishers every single year."

Galadriel Chilton, Dean of the University Library at the University of Massachusetts Lowell

  • Jane Saunders, Associate Director: Content and Discovery at University of Leeds Libraries

“Joining the Open Journals Collective gives us an exciting opportunity to reshape the scholarly communications landscape by supporting scholar-led, openly published journals.”
